The game is about to begin again. The main teaser trailer for the highly anticipated second season of Squid Game has been unveiled at the Lucca Comics and Games, Europe’s biggest comics convention, where thousands of fans gathered for this sneak peek of the new season. Fans were also treated to an in-person appearance by stars Lee Jung-jae, Wi Ha-jun, and director Hwang Dong-hyuk, adding to the excitement.
Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game quickly became a global juggernaut following its debut in 2021. After 12 years in development, it took just 12 days for it to become Netflix’s most popular series ever. Capturing the world’s attention, it dominated the Global Top 10 for nine consecutive weeks — a first for any non-English series — and made history with groundbreaking Emmy wins. 

Netflix has confirmed the production of Season 2 of Culinary Class Wars, following its record-breaking debut as the first Netflix Korea unscripted title to rank No. 1 on the Global Top 10 TV (Non-English) list for three consecutive weeks. Netflix has finally unveiled the highly anticipated release date for Squid Game: Season 2, setting the premiere for December 26 of 2024. Fans around the world have been eagerly waiting to dive back into the dystopian world of deadly games and twisted challenges. But the excitement doesn't stop there; Netflix also confirmed that the third and final season will debut in 2025, bringing the thrilling saga to a close.

In a heartfelt letter to fans, director Hwang Dong-hyuk shared his enthusiasm and reflections on the journey so far. "It's been almost three years since Season 1 was met with incredible response around the world," Hwang wrote. He recalled the surreal experience of returning to the set for Season 2, expressing his wonder at how the fans would feel re-entering the world of Squid Game after such a long wait.

The letter also teased the return of Seong Gi-hun, who vowed revenge at the end of Season 1. Fans can look forward to an intense clash as Gi-hun joins the game again.

Following the success of Queen of Tears, Netflix is rounding out this year’s K-romance lineup with Love Next Door, premiering on 17 August, with new episodes released every week. 

Directed by Yu Je-won and written by Shin Ha-eun, both of whom are creators of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Love Next Door follows the story of Bae Seok-ryu (Jung So-min) as she looks to get a fresh start in life after a series of missteps. She crosses paths with Choi Seung-hyo (Jung Hae-in), a celebrated young architect in Korea, who happens to be the son of her mom’s close friend. Haunted by awkward childhood memories due to their mothers’ friendship, will sparks fly when they meet again as adults, or will old memories get in the way?

Viewers will enjoy a frenemies-to-lovers story with the undeniable chemistry between Jung Hae-in (D.P.) and Jung So-min (Alchemy of Souls). With its lighthearted charm and humorous undertones, Love Next Door is set to be the next series that will set your heart aflutter.

“From the very beginning, I was you. I was always a part of you,” the monster within Hyun-su (Song Kang) eerily declares in the tension-filled trailer for Sweet Home: Season 3, leaving audiences wondering which version of Hyun-su will prevail, and to what end. 

In the third and final season of the iconic Korean monsterisation saga, humans, monsters, and neohumans prepare for the ultimate showdown. The main poster captures the clash between Hyun-su and Sang-wook (Lee Jin-uk) amid a wrecked stadium engulfed in flames. Once allies, their paths diverged in the second season and now lead to a final face-off. 

The trailer shows a glimpse of intense action between Hyun-su and Eun-hyeok (Lee Do-hyun) immediately after they are reunited. Yi-kyung (Lee Si-young) opens her eyes again after being consumed by a monster, while Eun-yu (Ko Min-si) and Chan-young (Jinyoung) desperately fight for survival. Netflix is gearing up for a monstrous summer showdown as Sweet Home returns for its third and final season on July 19, bringing the epic tale of survival and evolution to a thrilling conclusion.

Based on the original webtoon of the same name by Kkomabi, the plot explores themes such as morality, justice, and personal transformation. The story begins when Lee Tang (played by Choi Woo-shik), a submissive man who does not normally fight back, accidentally kills a person. Haunted by fear and guilt, Lee is constantly on edge, especially with Detective Jang Nan-gam (Son Suk-ku) close on his heels. 

Just as Lee decides to turn himself in, he finds out that the victim is actually a malicious serial killer. This sparks a noticeable shift in Lee’s character as he evolves from a regular guy-turned-murderer into a self-proclaimed judge of justice.
