When fate reaches out to an underprivileged high school student with the promise of a life filled with riches in exchange for a paltry sum, his life will be turned upside down when everything he ever wanted – and more – comes to pass, in The Golden Spoon – premieres on Disney+ Hotstar on September 23.
They say that nothing in life comes for free, but when struggling Lee Seungcheon is offered a new life full of wealth and riches in exchange for the purchase of a golden spoon that is affordable, he will soon learn that there’s more to that expression than meets the eye. Referred to as “dirt spoon” by those who know him best, Seungcheon and several others will soon have their lives completely transformed in unexpected and irreversible ways in The Golden Spoon, the latest Korean series to be announced as part of the ever-growing catalogue of local APAC content available on Disney+ Hotstar.
Starring Yook Sungjae (Mystic Pop-up Bar, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God) as Lee Seungcheon, a boy born into dire straits who is offered a new his life with the purchase of a golden spoon; Lee Jongwon (Hospital Playlist 2, The Spies Who Loved Me) as Hwang Taeyong, the son of a wealthy head of a conglomerate; Jung Chaeyeon (The King’s Affection, My First First Love) as Na Juhee, a woman from a rich family who dreams of a normal life; and Yeonwoo (Dali and Cocky Prince, Cheat On Me If You Can) as Oh Yeojin, a girl with unparalleled ambitions; The Golden Spoon is written by Yoon Eunkyung (The Prime Minister and I) and Kim Eunhee (The Prime Minister and I, Night After Night) and is directed by Robin Song (Another Miss Oh, Beauty Inside, The King’s Affection) and Lee Han Jun.
