TikTok, the world’s leading short video platform is bringing the K-Pop craze to Malaysia with two exciting announcements!
This month, the popular platform has partnered with the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) as the official sponsor and the global voting channel. As the official sponsor for the global voting channel, K-Pop fans in Malaysia can vote for their favorite acts across 18 award categories, including Artist of the Year, Best Asia Star, Song of the Year, Best New Artist and more, with voting channels closing on 9 December 2018.
Lucky Malaysian voters will stand a chance to win tickets to the MAMA show in Hong Kong on 14 December 2018. As part of celebrating creativity on a global stage, TikTok will be supporting MAMA 2018 by featuring the best of K-Pop and Asian artists, and empower users to engage in the upcoming event by voting for their favorite artists on TikTok.

To promote the debut solo track from Jennie of the Korean girl group BLACKPINK, TikTok has also launched a #JennieSolo challenge to the latest hit titled ‘Solo’. As a treat, fans stand to win exclusive Jennie signed merchandise by submitting their creative short videos on TikTok. Lucky winners will be announced on December 5, 2018 via the TikTok@globalchallenge and Instagram@tiktokglobalchallenge channels.
Prior to this challenge, Jennie and the rest of her group at BLACKPINK have introduced their single titled “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” on TikTok, breaking records with a over 35 million total video views worldwide. Currently, BLACKPINK’s TikTok account is among the most popular channels, with 3 million followers and growing.
Jenny’s latest hit, ‘Solo’, has been consistently topping the Korean music charts in two consecutive weeks following its release. ‘Solo’ has also topped the iTunes charts in 40 countries, with Jennie becoming the first Korean female solo singer to top the iTunes worldwide music chart. The music video for ‘Solo’ has surpassed 80 million viewers in 13 days, and as of 25th of Nov, Jennie won first place in SBS Inkigayo.
